The International Junior Science Olympiad
AuScience will run the first International Junior Science Olympiad, IJSO Australia, in 2010 The International Junior Science Olympiad was started in Indonesia in 2004. It is an examination based competition aimed at 15-year old students and challenges them in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Since 2004 it has been held in Indonesia (2005), Brazil (2006), Taiwan (2007) and Korea (2008) Over 50 nations now compete in the IJSO.
Australia first entered in 2008; a team consisting of three students from All Saints Anglican School and three students from Brisbane Girls Grammar School. Australia finished in 17th position earning a Silver Medal and 4 Bronze Medals for its six competitors. A qualifying competition for Australia will start in 2010. |
